The Legend

History

Throughout the year whilst attending James Kok's Robotic course, I learnt alot of valuable things including what is electricity and its effects the design of everday objects, for example the use of Infra-red emitting and recieving diodes in tv remotes set matching frequencies as to not be disrupted by other signals. Over the year through examples and assignments I discovered the uses of the electronic conponents such as resistor, capacitor, diodes, LED's,the list is endless. The purpose of which was to familiarize ourselves enough with the componests, so to be able to build a robot which could independently navigate its way through a maze.

Design

1. Components
While designing the robot,1 of the main issues where the location of the 3 ultrasonic sensors. My theory was the furthur back the left sensor was the easier the program would be to turn left due to the robot would be completely past the wall so it could do a point turn (left wheel going backwards/right wheel going forward). I later find out by doing this the after the turn the left sensor would in fact be behind the current wall. So to overcome this dilemma I moved the sensor to the front of the left side, so that once the turn was made the sensor could get a reading from the wall.

2. Base plate
As seen below a few designs for my base plate, All may have worked though after completing the assignment if I could choose again I would of choosen a slightly altered version of the "Original" (top left) design for it's simpleness.
